I know one guy since childhood. His name, Macario.
Macario was born and raised in the Philippines and like any other Filipino, he was baptized a Christian under the Catholic Church. He went to a Roman Catholic Church every sunday and have been going until he came at age. There are allot of reasons why he didn't go to Church anymore, one was because he believed that to praise and worship The Lord, it wasn't necessary to visit a place made of iron and concrete for God to hear his prayers.
The other reason just happened earlier. That his belief and his faith didn't reflect what God would've wanted.
Recently, there was a lot of debates and discussion about something that shouldn't have been. In the west, there's the debate about the legitimacy of rape (which is frankly stupid) and what counts as abortion. In the Philippines, there's a fuss about a bill, The Reproductive Health Bill.
Here's what confuses Macario. Though the Philippines is a nation with more than half of the population being Christians but having a society modeled from a state being separated from religion or the other way around, Why does the Catholic Church meddle with politics.
I was just talking to Macario last night and there were some words that kept me thinking.
1. Does the Catholic Church of the Philippines or in general reflect the situation of a country?
Nope. They have big churches higher than a tree when hundreds of Filipino's don't even have a roof to shelter in during a rain that drowns their houses.
Nope. They only reflect their own belief/s and not the belief/s of our brothers and sisters who believe in other Christians sects and other religion/s.
2. What does the Catholic Church know about sex when:
Priests don't marry.
They don't want to teach sex education just for the reason that it promotes promiscuity to our future.
(Yes, it's a valid point)
3. If man was designed after God, I would think that He is a very smart being.
He wouldn't need to copy and paste his speech
He wouldn't think that Churches should be built big and fancy but instead, he would want the money to go to the poor instead of going to the bishops' and archbishop's fee for laundry just to keep their robes white.
He wouldn't think that keeping people safe from poverty and illness though the use of contraception is wrong.
He wouldn't think that keeping up to today's norm like wearing a shoe is wrong, much like He wore sandals instead of walking barefoot.
and at last, He would say, that the Catholic Church have built enormous temples in honor of My Name but have forgotten that the CHURCH is not a place but something more that can be built with iron and concrete.
